A Charming Wedding

DSC_0387A dear, dear friend of mine had the most charming wedding I’ve ever attended. She told all her guests to wear  50’s inspired attire and this is what I came up with. I started shopping way in advance but in the end I just pulled a few pieces from the closet. This skirt originally had a pink cotton lining (From Fossil) and I wore it once to the ballet with my daughter. See it here. I cut the lining out a few weeks back as I was looking for a black petticoat to wear underneath. I just ended up wearing it with my…Spanx! (Laugh) Sexy…you know that’s my M.O. The shoes..”Marlene” from Steve Madden. Remember a few months back I was looking for a more affordable alternative to the Saint Laurent sandal? Read that post here. Seems like they plan on having this style remain as a staple. I was there today and saw new colors in this same style for fall. Buy them here. The top is something that I almost donated to Good Will, an old work blouse from The Limited. Thought the puff sleeves and the little ruffle were 50sish. My husband played along as much as he could…with a hat! (Laugh) He’s not into fashion AT ALL. I was more focused on shooting the wedding rather than my outfit so here are just a couple shots of the whole thing, and Colin…with his hat. Hope you enjoy the pictures of Sherry, she was such a beautiful bride! I absolutely adore this girl, everything about her; her style, personality but most of all, her spirit. We’ve been friends since high school. If you haven’t been reading the past few posts, I’m back on my photography and I quite like being behind the camera. I’m sensitive about my work so be gentle. DSC_0390

DSC_0534Had someone sap a pic. This is now my favorite picture of us. Lipstick a little smudged, only because we were kissing all day. The kids were with Grandma so this was such a treat for us. On the way home he spotted a Carnival and took me on a few rides. It was the perfect ending to this day. He won a stuffed animal for me and we had cotton candy, the whole bit. I love this man so much. We celebrated our 8 year anniversary just a few days before this wedding. Love was in the air…

CSC_0408Black…that’s all he wears.

I love photography just as much as I do fashion, and they go hand in hand if you really think about it. I’ve devoted the next year to learning more and saving for more equipment. Let me know what you guys think and if you’re in the DMV and need a photographer drop me line.
